Privacy

Lost Samples keeps its own usage stats so it can tell which records people dig, play, save and flip, and use that to improve digging, trending and recommendations. Page traffic is counted separately by Vercel, which hosts the site. There are no ads, and neither uses cookies.

Contact form

If you send a message from the Contact page, your name, email address and message are emailed to Lost Samples through Resend, so it can reply. They aren't added to your account or the stats below.

What's recorded

Page traffic

Vercel Web Analytics counts visits to each page. With each page view it receives the address of the page (without anything after the path except utm_ campaign tags), the site you came from, your approximate location (country, region and city), and your browser, operating system and type of device. To count visitors it uses a hash of the request, which it discards after 24 hours, so it can't recognise you from one day to the next or follow you to other sites. Lost Samples only sees the totals.

Your listening history

Separately from these stats, the records you play are kept as your history (the studio's side panel and the History page). Signed out, it stays in this browser. Signed in, it's stored on your account, visible only to you, and follows you across devices. You can remove records, clear it, or pause it on the History page.

Comments

Comments on records and flips are public and show your username. You can edit one for 15 minutes after posting and delete it any time; a flip's creator can delete comments on their flip. Comments reported by three people are hidden.

Following

Who you follow and who follows you are public, like votes: they show on your profile. Unfollowing removes it straight away. Following someone only puts their new flips in your Following tab; nobody is notified.

What isn't

Lost Samples' own stats never include IP addresses (used briefly in memory to stop abuse, never stored), email addresses, browser fingerprints, or anything typed into notes or flip descriptions.

How long it's kept

Individual events in Lost Samples' own stats are deleted after 30 days. What's kept after that are daily totals per record and per flip (for example "12 people played this on 3 November"), which can't be traced back to you.

Your choice

Both kinds of stats are off if your browser sends Global Privacy Control. You can also turn them off here; that also forgets this browser's ID.

Deleting your account

Settings → Delete account removes your profile, flips, votes, comments, follows, saved samples and listening history straight away. Usage stats you sent stay, no longer linked to you.
